Server

Server
En server er en computer som deler sine resourcer, så som (peripherals?) og filer med andre computere, kaldet klienter, på et netværk. Det er muligt for en computer at være klient og server samtidig.
Klient og server er begreber som stammer fra 1970'ernes terminal og mainframe kultur.
Der kommer flere og flere ny server muligheder i alle computer, som f.eks X-internet, Web server, og Microsoft's .Net. Disse tiltag gør det muligt for selv mindre computere at fungere som servere.
